Welcome to Pinellas Writers

PINELLAS WRITERS is a diverse, educational, and motivational critique group for aspiring and published writers. For more than 30 years, writers have come to us to hone their craft, and, as a result, many have succeeded in having their work published. We proudly provide a congenial and supportive environment in which writers can receive personal advice and encouragement.

We welcome writers of all levels, from beginner to multi-published (and we have both types and everything in between as members). We welcome novelists, poets, essayists, bloggers, short story and article writers, memoirists, journalists, playwrights, and screenwriters. We welcome those who write in any genre, including mainstream, suspense, horror, literary, romance, humor, opinion, historical, and anything else we forgot to mention. We love to write, and love writers!

We meet every Saturday morning at the Largo Southwest Recreation Complex,131200 Vonn Rd., Largo, Florida 33774, starting at 9:30 and ending at noon. Paid members read aloud and receive gentle and constructive comments and suggestions. Our gatherings typically consist of between 25 and 35 attendees, and we usually manage to get through ten to twelve readings.

The only requirement to join Pinellas Writers is the payment of a $50 annual fee (which, at less than $1.00 per meeting, is a true bargain). Guests are welcome to attend a maximum of three meetings before becoming a member, to see if our group will be of help.

Annual Holiday Party December 16, 2017

Our annual members-only holiday party will be on December 16 this year. As usual, for the first hour we’ll have five-minute holiday-oriented readings with no critiquing, so it’s an entirely pain and risk-free time to share your work. Then we’ll enjoy a fabulous pot-luck brunch buffet with a Honey-Baked Ham and some holiday fellowship. Members… (read more)
